The History of Poggioreale, Sicily

by Canonico Francesco Aloisio

This very scarce book, written by one of the priests who lived in Poggioreale, was first printed in Italian in 1956 and again in 1986. This edition is a 200 page English translation. About 20 per cent of the original book was written in the Poggioreale dialect and has not yet been translated, but is included in this edition. Topics include Life and Customs, Folklore, Religious Festivals, Proverbs, and a discussion of the Poggioreale dialect.

This soft bound, 8.5 x 11 inch book is $30 inside the United States. Because I am paying more for padded envelopes and for Priority Mail, I am forced to increase shipping charges, which now run from $8 to $11, depending on where the book is going. I never charge for "handling", which I consider to be a rip off when I order items by mail. I'll send a total when I receive a shipping address. Reduced shipping charge for additional books mailed to the same address.

This book is occasionally out of print, so please inquire about availability.

The photo of Piazzo Elimo in Old Poggioreale that appears on this page is available in a glossy print, 7 by 10 inches, for $15.00
